2018 Teshie-Nungua Area Easter Convention Underway

The Teshie-Nungua Area of The Church of Pentecost, under the leadership of Prophet James Osei Amaniampong, has kicked-start the 2018 Easter convention under the theme: “Jesus Christ and Him Crucified” based on 1 Corinthians 2:1-2.

Speaking on the first day of the convention at the Fred Safo Temple, Nungua Nshorna, on Thursday, March 29, comprising the two Pentecost International Worship Centres (Sakumono and Graceland) and the two Worship Centres (Baatsona and Daniel Kwabena Annan) in the Area, the Resident Minister for Sakumono PIWC, Pastor Jonathan Kofie, admonished believers to let the crucifixion of Jesus Christ be meaningful to them.

“Christ’s death on the cross was disgraceful and shameful but for believers it liberated us. The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God,” he said.

Reading from 1 Corinthians 1: 1-17, 2:1-2; Deuteronomy 21: 23 and Philippians 1: 2-10, Pastor Kofie noted that Jesus Christ died a shameful death in the wisdom of man, but in the wisdom of God, it was a glorious death for believers to be reconciled to their maker.

According to him, the foundation of the Christian race is the cross and the entire purpose of His (Christ’s) mission on earth has been accomplished on the cross, adding, “After the death of Christ on the cross, the cross took another meaning, where Jesus said “It is finished” (Tetelestai) which is the greatest saying of all times.”

In conclusion, Pastor Kofie challenged Christians to have faith in the resurrection power of Christ. “Christ in you is the hope of glory,” he said, adding, “The resurrection of Christ has power above all other powers on earth; Christ has the key to everything in the world, hence believers should not faint in their Christian race. Hold firmly to the basic message of Christ being crucified and risen with power and authority.”
