Abuakwa Area Holds First Ministers’ Ordination Service

The Abuakwa Area of The Church of Pentecost in the Ashanti Region on Wednesday May 30, 2018, held its maiden ordination service for three Overseers in the Area.

The three Overseers were called into the pastorate during the 43rd General Council Meetings of The Church of Pentecost held at the Pentecost Convention Centre, Gomoa-Fetteh from May 2 to 4, 2018. They were George Narh Obodai, Prince Yaw Osei and David Adjabeng Boadi-Mensah.

Presenting the welcome address, the Abuakwa Area Head, Apostle E.K. Osei Ofosu was full of praise to God for the giant strides that the Area had made through devoted men and women in the vineyard. He added that, by the grace of God, the three overseers were being ordained into the pastorate after five years of hard work and dedication to the Lord’s service. He used the occasion to challenge Christians to excel in their respective fields of endeavour and at Lord’s appointed time, he will reward their efforts.

Apostle Ekow Badu-Wood, a member on the Executive Council of The Church of Pentecost and the Coordinator of Ashanti Regional Coordinating Committee as well as the Area Head of Asokwa, preached the sermon titled: David’s Mighty Men.

Reading from Second Samuel 23:8 following, he illustrated that the mighty men of David won such accolade because they had been with David. Apostle Badu-Wood inferred that men and women in the church are only ordinary people but for their affiliation to the Lord Jesus Christ and His church, they have been endowed with gifts of the Holy Spirit, which has made them mighty personalities. He, however, added that they must humble themselves in order to enjoy greater grace from the Lord Jesus Christ.

Speaking on the functions of ministers in The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Badu-Wood cautioned that, everyone must live within their scope of calling and avoid usurping the other. He cited that, ordained Pastors can bless marriages but the task of Dedicating church buildings lie within the role of Area Heads.

Concluding his message, Apostle Ekow Badu-Wood read from Revelation 20:12, and explained that, since all and sundry will render account to God on their stewardship, there is the need to do the Lord’s work with dexterity.
