GPCC 50th Anniversary Planning Committee Inaugurated

A 10-member committee has been inaugurated to spearhead the activities marking the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC).

The Planning Committee, chaired by Apostle Dr Stephen Amoani, Chairman of the Christ Apostolic Church, who also doubles as the 2nd Vice President of the GPCC, was inaugurated by the President of the GPCC, Apostle Prof. Opoku Onyinah, in Accra on Friday, April 20, 2018.

Other members of the committee are: Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi (General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost), Rev. Emmanuel Teimah Barrigah (General Secretary of the GPCC), Rev. Ernest Birikorang of the Assemblies of God, Pastor David Doku of the Royal House Chapel and Rev. Isaac Mensah from the Fountain Gate Chapel International.

The rest are: Elder (Prof) Geoffrey Emi-Reynolds of the Christ Apostolic Church, Madam Justina Amoah-Laryea of the Full Gospel Church International, Mr Ernest Asigri, the Programmes Manager of the GPCC National Secretariat and Mrs Florence Simpson, the Administrative and Communications Manager of the GPCC National Secretariat.

The committee as part of its work is to plan series of activities and memorabilia to commemorate the Golden Jubilee Celebration of the Council, make recommendations to National Executive Committee on the duration of the celebration and timelines for various activities, and stand ready to implement recommendations upon approval by the National Executive Council.

Speaking prior to the inauguration, the President of the Council, Apostle Prof. Opoku Onyinah, congratulated members of the committee on their appointment. He noted that the National Executive Council has confidence in the Chairman of the committee to lead them to execute their mandate based on his rich experience.

The GPCC President said that the Council has every cause to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of its existence because the Lord has been good to the Council.

According to Apostle Prof. Opoku Onyinah, the GPCC has a checkered history having undergone a dynamic transformation over the years. He, however, said the Council has enjoyed a very successful ecumenical fellowship over the last 50 years.

In a remark, the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Apostle Dr Stephen Amoani, on behalf of the members of the committee, expressed their gratitude to the President and the National Executive Council for the confidence reposed in them.

He promised to bring their individual and collective expertise to bear in the discharge of their mandate. He, therefore, called for the support of the Council.
