Hebron, English Assemblies Church Building Dedicated

The Hebron and English Assemblies church building in Tema New Town District of The Church of Pentecost has been dedicated.

The dedication service which took place on Sunday, March 25, 2018, was performed by the Tema Area Head, Apostle Matthew Larbi Wettey, assisted by the District Minister, Pastor Stephen Ameyaw Frempong, and other ministers in the Area.

In a sermon with scripture references from Mark 11:1-10 and Acts 17:24, Pastor Benjamin Quaye Ofei Badu, the Resident Minister of Tema Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC), said just as King Solomon dedicated the temple he built to the Lord, believers whose bodies are the temple of God ought to dedicate themselves to the glory of God.

He encouraged Christians to allow themselves to be decorated for the service of God like the donkey the Lord Jesus Christ used for His triumphal entry into Jerusalem.

The Hebron Assembly was officially inaugurated on November 8, 2004 with 28 members, including seven officers by Pastor Edward Arthur Quaye. Two years later (April 3, 2006) the English assembly was also inaugurated. Both assemblies worshipped in a classroom.

On February 20, 2011, following a directive by the Ghana Education Service disallowing the use of classrooms as worship centres, Pastor Theophilus Owusu Boreh, the then District Minister, allowed the two assemblies to join the Shalom assembly which was then worshipping under a Pavilion. In 2013, when Pastor Emmanuel Gyan Mantey was transferred to the district, he managed to get the two assemblies a permanent place of worship, with grants from the Area and the Head Office.

The foundation stone of the building was laid on August 19, 2016 by Apostle Abraham Lincoln Angoh, assisted by Pastor Mantey.

The building was completed at the cost of GH¢102,602.50.

In attendance at the service were Pastors John Mensah Yanney (Community 1 District), Joseph Danzerl (Community 4 District), Abraham Swanzy (Greenwich Meridian District), among others.
