Apostle Emmanuel Gyesi Addo

IMD Visits Kaneshie Area

The International Missions Director (IMD) of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Emmanuel Gyesi-Addo, paid a day’s visit to the Kaneshie Area of the Church on Monday, March 5, 2018. The visit coincided with the launch of the 2018 Missions Week at the Kaneshie Central Assembly.

The launch which was the brainchild of the Area Missions Committee chaired by Pastor Isaac Ekow Eshun was organised under the auspices of the Kaneshie Area Head, Apostle Mike Kwame Etrue. It was held under the theme, “Preaching the Basic Message to All Nations.”

Apostle Gyesi-Addo who was the speaker of the event schooled members on the urgency for missions work in the present generation. Drawing lessons from John 3:36, Romans 13-17 and Luke 16:8, he averred that the Church needs to take missions work and evangelism seriously, because anyone who does not hear and accept the gospel is a candidate of God’s wrath.

He said the passion for missions work and evangelism should stem from the knowledge that anyone who has not accepted Jesus as Lord and Saviour has no life and is under the wrath of God.

He also quoted from Romans 10:14-15a (How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent?).

Touching on missions work in the Church, the IMD recounted the missionary story of Pastor James and Sophia McKeown (the Founder of the Church) in the Gold Coast. He brought to the attention of members the great sacrifice the McKeowns made in accepting the call to the Gold Coast. He noted that they came to pursue God’s agenda barring all the challenges they encountered. One of such hurdles they had to overcome was the deadly malaria disease that almost killed Pastor Mckeown.

“It is only by the grace of God that Pastor McKeown did not die out of this disease during his early days in the country,” he observed.

The IMD narrated some of the ordeals missionaries go through daily on the Missions fields. Consequently, he called on members to constantly intercede on behalf of missionaries.

He ended the presentation by reading Luke 16:8. He bemoaned the lackadaisical attitude of some Christians in the area of preaching the gospel and winning souls. He said that unbelievers usually spend much of their resources to sponsor ungodly events with much enthusiasm while believers show no urgency in sponsoring godly activities.

He, therefore, admonished members to continually give to support the Missions work which goes a long way to sustain the Missions drive of the Church.

Apostle Mike Etrue launched the Missions Week Celebrations after intercessory prayers were said for missionaries and missions work.

Present at the service was Apostles Fred Tiakor (Children’s Ministry Director), S. K. Ansong (Retd), ministers and their wives in the Kaneshie Area.
