New Tafo Area 2018 Easter Convention Underway

The New Tafo Area of The Church of Pentecost, under the leadership of Apostle Samuel Osei Asante, on Thursday, March 29, 2018, began this year’s Easter Convention.

The four-day event which is under the theme, “He [Jesus Christ] Was Pierced For Our Transgressions” (Isaiah 53:5, John 19:34), is being held simultaneously in four zones, namely New Tafo, Old Tafo, Mamponteng and Kenyasi.

Meanwhile, the New Tafo Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC) is hosting all the English Assemblies within the Area at its auditorium.

Opening the convention on Thursday at the New Tafo Zone, Pastor Andrew Adu-Amankwaah of Yennyawoso District, called on all and sundry to put their faith in Christ Jesus for He alone saves.

Reading from Isaiah 53:5 and John 19:34, he gave the chronicles leading to the severance of the healthy relationship that existed between God and man in the beginning of creation. He indicated that man was alienated from God because of sin through disobedience. “It is sin that separates man from God,” he stressed. He, therefore, advised the gathering to strive to eschew all forms of sin in order to enjoy the love of God to the apex.

According to him, the disobedience of man was the emergence of idolatry, because man was forlornly searching for a way to reunite with God so he resorted to anything he came across, thinking that it would help him to reconcile with God. He said that the God of infinite love, having perceived the plight of man, had pity on him and resolved to reconcile with him, hence the death of Jesus Christ (John 3:16).

“Jesus loves you regardless of the magnitude of your sins so come to Him now. If you accept Him, you will have life but if you reject Him, you will die,” he said.

Touching on the reasons for the death of Jesus Christ, Pastor Adu-Amankwaah noted that Jesus died to restore man to his former position with God and to restore the lost peace and hope. He added that Jesus died so that man would be saved from eternal wrath of God.

“The consequences of our sins were borne by Jesus Christ so that we may have life and have it more abundantly. Accept Jesus now and be saved,” he concluded.

The opening day saw 14 people giving their lives to Christ.
