APOSTLE E.K. OSEI OFOSU (AREA HEAD, ABUAKWA)

“The Bane Of Humanity Is Sin” – Apostle Osei Ofosu

Apostle Emmanuel Kwasi Osei Ofosu, the Abuakwa Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, has cautioned believers to be weary of sin, for it is the bane of humanity.

He said this during this year’s Easter convention at the Atwima Koforidua Zone which took place from Thursday, 29th March to Sunday, 1st April, 2018, on the theme: “Jesus Christ Came to Set Us Free” – John 8:36.

Speaking on the topic, “Christ Has Set Us Free from Sin and its Consequences,” he defined sin as the transgression of the law of God (1 John 3:4) or to commit an offence.

The origin of sin, Apostle Osei Ofosu explained, emerged from the disobedience of the first man and woman [Adam & Eve] to God’s word after being lured by Satan to obey his false doctrine (Genesis 3:14-19; Romans 5:12, 19; 3:10, 23).

This, he said, caused humanity to become spiritually dead, depraved and object of God’s wrath (Ephesians 2:1-3; Romans 1:29-32; 1:18).

“The Apostle Paul corroborated that sin enslaved humanity to the extent that no one could deliver him from its dominion, though it causes humans to do only what is evil. Humanity has become wretched and helpless, and cannot save themselves from sin (Romans 7:18-24),” he added.

The Abuakwa Area Head explained that sin has enslaved the human mind to the point that human beings engage in unthinkable things such as substance abuse, lies, fornication, drunkenness, envy, hatred, murder, covetousness, robbery and other social vices.

He added that the desire to be liberated from sin and its consequences can only be found in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ, saying, “If Jesus Christ sets you free, you shall be free from sin and its consequences.”

“For humanity to be set free from sin, blood must be shed, for without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins (Hebrews 9:22).

“This divine order has been met only in Jesus Christ who became once and for all our sacrificial lamb. Thus, the sinner who repents of their sins and believe in the finished work of Christ on the cross shall be saved from sin,” he added.

Apostle Osei Ofosu advised Christians to stand firm in order not to lose the freedom they have gained in Christ. Quoting from Galatians 5:1; Colossians 2:8; Philippians 2:12-13, he mentioned that freedom in Christ should not be the avenue to indulge in works of the flesh. He entreated them to flee from evil, walk in the Spirit (Galatians 5:13, 16-17) and live as God’s slaves of righteousness (1 Peter 2:16).

The message led to 14 new persons accepting Jesus Christ as their Lord and personal Saviour.

Aside the Atwima Koforidua Zone, the convention was also held in six other zones namely, Abuakwa, Kunsu, Adugyama, Toase, Nyinahin and the English Assemblies at the Abuakwa Central auditorium.
