General Secretary Visits Akakpokope Food Poisoning Victim

The General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi Larbi, on Friday, March 9, 2018, visited Elder Francis Akakpo, a survivor of the food poisoning incident at Akakpokope, a village near Agbakope in the Volta Region.

It was reported on March 4, 2018, that some people lost their lives as a result of food poisoning from a corn dough used to prepare Banku. Elder Francis Akakpo, who is currently responding to treatment, lost his wife and two children as a result of the unfortunate incident.

The General Secretary together with Prophet James Osei Amaniampong, (Teshie-Nungua Area Head and Executive Council Member), Apostle Joseph Assabil, (Achimota Area Head and Executive Council Member), Apostle Anthony Ahalivor (Madina Area Head) and Apostle Moses Ahiakor (Ho Area Head) as well as some pastorate in the Aflao Area visited Elder Akakpo and members of his extended family to sympathize with them.

In a brief exhortation based on John 6:60-61, Prophet James Osei Amaniampong said that it is sometimes difficult to explain why God allows some unfortunate incidents to befall Christians.

He, however, said that this unfortunate incident must serve as wake-up call for all Christians to work hard on their salvation because they do not know when and how they would leave this earth.

Prophet Amaniampong advised the bereaved family not to give up on God but to continue to believe and trust in the sovereign God because He alone knows and understands what Christians go through.

He encouraged them to be strong in such a difficult time and also assured them the Church will support the family and the district in the final funeral rites of the deceased wife and children.

After the exhortation, Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi led the delegation to pray for the family members.
