Only Jesus Christ Has The Power To Save – Rev. Dr. Quayesi-Amakye Asserts

The Dean of Studies at the Pentecost Theological Seminary (PTS), Rev. Dr. Joseph Quayesi-Amakye, has said that only Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the world, has the power to save man from his sinful nature.

Speaking at the Teshie-Nungua Area Apostolisation on February 16, 2018, on the topic: “The Saviour,” Rev. Dr. Quayesi-Amakye said it is important for Christians to fully grasp what it means to be saved, because there are several false doctrines on salvation and attempts by some individuals and groups to distort the message of salvation.

Quoting various texts from the Bible including Genesis 3, he explained how the serpent deceived Eve into sin, which has caused mankind great misery.

According to him, man’s sinful nature has separated him from God, hence the need for a saviour who will reconcile man to God since all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. “If we reconcile to God, we have peace with Him and with our fellow men,” he added.

Rev. Dr. Quayesi-Amakye explained that all religions believe in the message of salvation but from different perspectives. “We need to know the salvation that is taught in the Bible. Salvation is not based on the church you attend or your good deeds but it is in believing in Jesus Christ,” he explained.

Stating the position of The Church of Pentecost on salvation, Rev. Dr. Quayesi-Amakye said the Church believes that man’s need for a saviour has been met in the person of Jesus Christ. “Due to man’s sinful nature he cannot save lives except God who came to earth in the very nature of man. Jesus Christ is fully God, fully man and before He was born as man, He was God,” he stressed.

He explained the deity of Christ, His virgin birth, sinless life, atoning death, resurrection and ascension, His abiding intercession and second coming, saying that Christ’s resurrection has given hope to the world. “We have the hope that when He returns we will be with Him,” he said.

Rev. Dr. Quayesi-Amakye stressed the need for a transformation in character when one meets Christ. He admonished Christians to remain in the basic message of Christ as He is preparing them for His second coming.
