The Lord Has Been Gracious To The Church – Chairman

The gracious hand of God upon The Church of Pentecost has made it a leading global church reaching the unreached with the simple but authentic gospel of Jesus Christ.

The Chairman of the Church, Apostle Professor Opoku Onyinah, believes that the fully-self-sustained global Church with branches in over 90 countries, has seen an exponential growth over the years purely because of the unmerited grace of God upon the Church.

Speaking at the 2017 End-of-Year Head Office Management Meeting which took place at the Headquarters in Accra on Friday, February 9, 2018, Apostle Prof. Opoku Onyinah thanked God for how far He has brought the Church.

Chairing the annual meeting for the last time as Chairman of the Church, Apostle Prof. Opoku Onyinah disclosed that he has spent 21 out of his 42 years in ministry working at the Head Office, first as the International Missions Director (IMD) for five years, six years as the Rector of the Pentecost University College (PUC), and 10 years as the Chairman of the Church.

This, he said, has afforded him the opportunity to know at firsthand the dynamics of the issues at the Headquarters.

He paid glowing tributes to the past Chairmen (Apostle Fred Stephen Safo, Prophet Martinson Kwadwo Yeboah and Apostle Dr. Michael Kwabena Ntumy), past General Secretaries (Apostles D. K. Arnan, Rigwell Ato Addison, Albert Amoah and Dr. Alfred Koduah) and past International Mission Directors (Apostles B. K. Arthur and Dr. S. K. Baidoo) for their support and guidance in his ministry.

He also eulogized the current General Secretary, Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi, the IMD, Apostle Emmanuel Gyesi-Addo, the Finance and Administrative Director, Pastor Nicholas Darko, and other management members as well as the Staff Representative Council (SRC) for their tenacity and dedicated services which has contributed greatly to the enviable height the Church has reached today.

Walking the participants through his life story to demonstrate the grace and the hand of God in his life, the Chairman said: “I came into ministry with absolutely nothing and had no asset to declare” as he was very young with no life experience and little formal education prior to his call into the ministry. However, the grace of God found him and helped him to achieve the highest academic laurels and the ability to lead the Church to become very vibrant in all spheres.

According to him, God revealed what he would become in ministry to him the very day he was ordained into the full-time ministry in 1976. He however said for God’s divine plan to be fulfilled in one’s life, he/she has to personally work to guard it by getting closer to God through daily personal devotion and prayer and also staying focus to the call.

He revealed how the grace of God took him through the Masters and PhD programmes being a certificate holder from the technical school. He stated that his thesis became a reference point for PhD students at the university.

He also said through the grace of God, he was appointed into the Executive Council at a very young age in his early 30s.

The Chairman encouraged Management to continue to trust in God and His promises for their lives, because He really exists.

He entreated Christians to serve God and work with good motives, adding that once they do that whatever God has said concerning their lives will surely come to pass, although some people may attempt to frustrate them.

Apostle Prof. Opoku Onyinah prayed that the Church will continue to grow in grace and fulfill its mandate of becoming the light to lead the world to Christ.
