There Is No Case For Divorce – Elder Amos Kevin-Annan Tells Couples

The Deputy Youth Director of The Church of Pentecost, Elder Amos Kevin-Annan, has indicated that Christian couples have no case for divorce as God has categorically said He hates divorce.

The Deputy Youth Director was speaking on the theme, “Is there a Case for Divorce?: The Challenges of the Christian Marriage Today,” on Tuesday, March 6, 2018, during a joint service between the Pentecost Men’s Ministry (PEMEM) and the Women’s Ministry at the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC), Sakumono in Accra .

He said keeping faith in difficult times should be the focus of every married couple. He explained that the word FAITH is an acronym for “Fidelity,” “Affirmation,” “Intimacy,” “Trust,” and “Harmony.”

“Marriages are crushing to cramps because spouses are outsourcing friendship, romance, intimacy and sex,” he said, adding, “Anytime a spouse has an alternative to these points, the marriage is bound to crush.”

Supporting his facts from the Bible, Elder Kevin-Annan read from Proverbs 24: 30-34; 6:32-35; 5:15-21 and 1 Corinthians 7:14.

He pointed out that marriage can be tested by the rain, wind and storms. “However, it is important we do not allow the devil to have a foothold in our marriages as well as not to give the enemies the joy of making mountains out of the mound hill,” he stated.

The Deputy Youth Director enumerated some of the reasons why some men leave their wives as follows: “I feel she is trying to fix my life,” “She treats me as one of her possessions,” “She compares me with other men especially her ex,” and “I am denied intimacy, and sex is used as a weapon.”

He also identified some of the reasons why some women also leave their husbands as follows: “My husband does not show any interest in me,” “It is only when he wants sex that he pays attention to me,” “He is not a friend to me.”

Elder Amos Kevin-Annan encouraged couples to drink water from their own cistern and to work on their marriages, saying, “If you sit down and do not work on your marriage, weeds will grow in it.”

The Resident Minister of PIWC Sakumono, Pastor Jonathan Kofie, on his part, said the word of God has cleansed all believers, including couples (John 15: 3) and encouraged the congregation to adhere to what they have been taught. He also commended the two ministries for the good job well done.
