We Are Children Of Covenant – Women’s Director Tells Women

The Director of the Women’s Ministry of The Church of Pentecost, Mrs Grace Lucy Yeboah-Asuama has admonished Christian women to remain in the basic message of God’s covenant in order to enjoy the full benefits of their covenant with God.

Mrs Yeboah-Asuama said this in a sermon at a meeting with the Koforidua Effiduase Area Women’s Ministry on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, as part of her duty tour to the Koforidua and Koforidua Effiduase areas of the Church.

Quoting Genesis 17:1-14; Romans 4:3; Psalm 138 and Psalm 91, Mrs Yeboah-Asuama explained that a covenant is a legally binding contract between two or more people.

“Our covenant is with God; God fulfilled His part of the covenant by shedding the blood of Jesus. We also ought to fulfil our part by being obedient to His word like Abraham did,” she explained.

The Women’s Director further noted that even though God was not specific about where He was sending Abraham, Abraham obeyed without complaining and that was how he became God’s friend.

Touching on some of the things that prevent Christians from enjoying the full benefits of the covenant, the Mrs Yeboah-Asuama admonished women to be mindful of the lifestyle they live and the friends they keep since they could impede their journey to heaven.

“What kind of life are you leading as a covenant child? Is your friend someone who wants to go to heaven?” she quizzed.

Stressing on the importance of the divine covenant, Mrs Yeboah-Asuama said God’s covenant with Abraham was sealed with the blood of the circumcision of his household; but God’s covenant with Christians was sealed with the precious blood of His own son, Jesus Christ. “Our covenant with God is stronger than the covenant God had with Abraham,” she added.

Mrs Yeboah-Asuama further stated that the reason why the crippled Mephibosheth had the opportunity to eat with King David in the palace was because of the covenant his father had with David as recorded in 2 Samuel 9:1-8. “This is the kind of love God has for us. God values covenant and so should we,” she admonished.

Concluding her message, Mrs Yeboah-Asuama called on all Christian women to leave Lo-debar, which she said represents “hardship, poverty and misery,” and rather remain under the shadow of the Almighty God where they would find grace and mercy in times of need.

“God does not like lazy Christians. Stop contracting charlatans in cassock to fast and pray for you. You don’t need a mediator to go to God. You can enter the holy place of God to obtain grace and mercy yourself. It is there and then that you can boldly say ‘He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in Him, I trust’” she said.

Mrs Yeboah-Asuama was accompanied by the Deputy Women’s Ministry Director, Mrs Margret Osei, and Mrs Mabel Darko, an Executive Member of the Women’s Ministry. The delegation was hosted by the Koforidua Effiduase Area Women’s Leader, Mrs Elizabeth Adoboah.
